Colin Kelly Jost a.k.a Colin Jost is an American actor, writer, and comedian. Since 2005, he has written for Saturday Night Live (SNL), and as of 2014, he has served as co-anchor of Weekend Update.

Jost co-hosted the “Weekend Update Summer Edition” in 2017 and the special “Weekend Update” episodes.
The episodes were aired on MSNBC during the 2016 Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
Jost and his co-anchor Michael Che presided over the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2018.

Early Life of Colin Jost

Colin Kelly Jost was born on 29th June 1982 and isis 40 years of age as of 2022. He was born and raised in the Staten Island neighborhood of Grymes Hill in New York City, United States.

His father, Daniel A. Jost, is a former Staten Island Technical High School teacher, and his mother, Kerry J. Kelly, served as the chief medical officer for the New York City Fire Department.

The writer and producer of Impractical Jokers and actor in Staten Island Summer, Casey Jost, is his younger brother.

He was brought up as a Roman Catholic and went to Regis High School in Manhattan, where he served as editor of the student newspaper The Owl.

He majored in history and literature while attending Harvard University[9], with a focus on Russian and British literature.

His senior thesis was on Vladimir Nabokov. In 2004, Jost received a cum laude degree from Harvard.

He served as the Harvard Lampoon’s president while a student. Jost also won $5,250 USD on a college version of Weakest Link, but he claimed he didn’t deserve to win.

Jost worked as a reporter and copy editor for the Staten Island Advance after graduating.

After that, he was employed as a writer for the brief Kappa Mikey cartoon series on Nickelodeon.

After quitting that role, he sent a writing sample to NBC’s Saturday Night Live, which led to him being hired as a writer in 2005.

Jost oversaw SNL’s scripting from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, he served as co-head writer; from 2017 until 2022, he once again held that position.

Stepping Into The Ladder Of Success

Rob Klein, another co-head writer for SNL, and he frequently worked together. Because co-anchor Seth Meyers would soon be leaving to host Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Executive producer Lorne Michaels asked Jost if he could do the Weekend Update feature during the summer break following the 2012–2013 season.

On the March 1, 2014, show, Meyers accepted and was replaced by Jost.  Later, Jost eclipsed Meyers’ record for the longest anchor in the history of the program on the Jason Sudeikis-hosted show from 23rd October 2021.

Jost has performed in a variety of comedic roles. He has given stand-up comedy performances and has been seen on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, TBS, and HBO.

He was chosen as a “New Face” in the 2009 Montréal Just for Laughs festival.  Since then has performed at the 2011 and 2012 Chicago Just for Laughs festivals.

In May 2017, Scarlett Johansson, an actress, and Jost started dating. The couple get engaged in May 2019.

In their New York apartment, they got married in October 2020. The couple’s son was born on August 2021.

While residing in Leverett House at Harvard, Jost shared a room with Pete Buttigieg, a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

Jost contributed money to Buttigieg’s mayoral reelection effort in 2015. He then played Buttigieg in the 45th season of Saturday Night Live during Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.
