Anisimova made the final, her first final appearance since 2019, at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 to kick off the season. By defeating Aliaksandra Sasnovich, she was awarded the title.
Anisimova defeated defending champion Naomi Osaka in three sets in the third round of the Australian Open after coming back from a set down and saving two match points in the final set.
She previously defeated Simona Halep at the 2019 French Open, making this the second major that she has defeated the defending champion.
